Entry Requirements

  • Applicant must hold at least a Bachelor's degree with good honours. Having a Master degree is a plus, but not mandatory.

  • Substantial work experience in tech department of any business domain, with good understanding of industry problems.

  • Good GMAT/GRE test score/SMU Admissions Test score. SMU MITB or MSc in Computing graduates with a minimum cGPA of 3.4/4.0 (within 5 years of graduation) will be exempted from the SMU Admission Test. 

    • SMU's GRE institution code is 2861. Test results obtained within 5 years will be accepted. 

    • The GMAT code for this programme is F8D-Z4-82.Test results obtained within 5 years will be accepted.

  • Good TOEFL (minimum of 90) or IELTS (minimum of 6.5) scores for applicants whose medium of instruction at the Bachelor's or Master's level was not in English. SMU's TOEFL institution code is 9014. Please note that test scores (both TOEFL or IELTS) obtained within 2 years from test taken will be accepted.

  • Two Referee Reports (Referees are to submit the completed referee form directly to us.

    • All application requires 2 referees (academic referees preferred).

    • Please contact & request your referees to mail the completed form directly to us.

      Referees may also send in their completed form via their official mailbox to engd@smu.edu.sg.

    • Referee reports received but not satisfying the above conditions will not be accepted.

  • Any other supporting documents

  • A softcopy PDF or Word Doc format of your Personal and Research statement is required as attachment in the online application system. Hence, no hardcopy submission is required.

    PERSONAL STATEMENT

    Please discuss your academic and career objectives. Be specific about the area in which you plan to study, your reasons for wishing to study at Singapore Management University. Note: A resume or CV is not a personal statement.

    RESEARCH STATEMENT

    Please propose a research topic that you would like to undertake in the programme, the technical potential and real-world relevance of the topic, and how do you think our programme could equip you to work on the topic.

    For all non-English certificates or documents, a copy of the original certificates/documents and their official English translations must be submitted.
