SG Digital Scholarship (Postgraduate)

The SG Digital Scholarship (Postgraduate) is an industry scholarship that empowers individuals interested in pursuing tech or media-related studies at the Masters or PhD level. Individuals pursuing postgraduate studies in specialised tech or media-related areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technologies, Immersive Media, and Film Studies can chart their future with this scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants for the SG Digital Scholarship (Postgraduate) must meet the following criteria:
 
1.    Singapore citizen;
2.    The postgraduate programme has to be tech or media-related and offered by a local autonomous university, local arts institution or a renowned overseas university;
3.    A current student in a postgraduate programme with minimally one academic year of study remaining from the point of scholarship award; or
4.    A candidate who has yet to enroll in any postgraduate programmes and will commence his/her Masters or PhD within one year from the point of scholarship award.

Vingroup Young Talent Scholarship


The Vingroup Young Talent Scholarship is the first scholarship established at SMU that will provide full financial support for Vietnamese students pursuing a postgraduate programme at SMU. The mission of the Scholarship Programme is to find talents and develop them further, and provide them with rewarding opportunities so that they have the ability to lead and advance the development of science and technology in Vietnam in the future.

For Vietnamese students pursuing the EngD programme, the scholarship covers full tuition fees, registration fees, miscellaneous fees and partial living allowance during the recipient’s period of study. Upon graduation, recipients are expected to return to Vietnam within two years of graduation from EngD and contribute to the Science and Technology industry in Vietnam by working or serving in Vietnam for either a Vietnamese public/non-profit university or research institute or a member company of the Donor, for the number of years of support that they receive from the scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Full-time students who are successfully admitted to, or enrolled into the EngD programme;
  2. Of Vietnamese origin;
  3. Have good academic results, as determined by SMU;
  4. Demonstrate a desire to excel in research and to return back to Vietnam in order to contribute meaningfully to the country.

Scholarship Obligation:

Upon graduation, recipients are expected to return to Vietnam within two years of graduation from EngD and contribute to the Science and Technology industry in Vietnam by working or serving in Vietnam for either a Vietnamese public/non-profit university or research institute or a member company of the Donor, for the number of years of support that they receive from the scholarship.

Economic Development Board Industrial Postgraduate Programme (EDB IPP)

The Industrial Postgraduate Programme (IPP), supported by the Economic Development Board (EDB), aims to develop a pool of postgraduate research talent in Singapore. The programme provides postgraduate students with industry-relevant training in both the academic and corporate Research and Development (R&D) environments. At the end of the training, graduates will take on R&D roles in the industry.

Eligibility:

  1. Candidates must be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents.
  2. Candidates must meet the university’s minimum admission requirements for the relevant postgraduate research programmes.
  3. Candidates can be fresh graduates or existing employees of the respective partner companies.

Features:

  1. Candidates would be enrolled in one of the university’s postgraduate research programmes and would have to fulfil the requirements of the university, as well as of the respective partner companies.
  2. Subsidised tuition fees will be fully covered, and monthly stipends will be provided for four years for the Doctor of Engineering (EngD) Programme. Other benefits include insurance and conference funding.
  3. Candidates will work on jointly-identified research projects that are of specific interest to the respective partner companies.
  4. Each of the candidates will be jointly mentored by an academic co-supervisor from the university and a non-academic co-supervisor from the respective partner companies.
  5. Candidates are expected to spend at least 50% of their time at the respective partner companies’ research facilities to work on the research projects.
  6. Partner companies are based in Singapore, and have corporate R&D laboratories in Singapore. The university and respective partner companies would have formalised research collaboration agreements between one another in this scheme.

Interested companies will jointly scope research projects with identified SMU faculty members before submitting the research proposal to EDB for consideration.

A*STAR Graduate Scholarship

A collaboration between A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and Singapore Management University (SMU), the A*STAR Graduate Scholarship (AGS) enables you to undertake research at an A*STAR Research Institute and register your PhD or EngD candidature at NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU. The scholarship finances up to four years of your PhD or EngD studies in Singapore.

As an AGS awardee, you will gain exposure to industry R&D. You will also have opportunities for an overseas attachment of up to 12 months during the course of your studies. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to apply for a 2-year post-doctoral fellowship to further your research training at a top overseas university or research laboratory.
