* The Part Time EngD programme is recommended as a five-year programme. The minimum candidature can be four years while maximum candidature period is seven years.(Min/Max candidature request is subject to approval).
* Upon enrolment into the EngD programme, successful candidates who are alumni of the SMU Master of IT in Business (MITB), SMU Master of Applied Information Systems (MAIS) or SMU Master of Science (MSc) in Computing, and have graduated within the last 5 years, may be provided with exemptions of up to 4 CUs of matching courses
*There is flexibility for candidates from technology companies to start their Empirical Research Project (ERP) in Year 1, Term 1. This will help them get started on their small-scope applied research earlier, and then build upon this towards their final dissertation project. For MITB, MAIS or MSc in Computing alumni with credit exemptions, they can also start their ERP earlier.
