SMU Professor of Computer Science Hoong Chuin Lau and SMU Research Engineer Monit Sharma presented research at IEEE Quantum Week 2026 on using AI to improve quantum optimisation.Their approach uses a large language model to examine how a quantum solver performs, suggest changes to its configuration, and test those changes through controlled experiments, with the aim of finding strategies that adapt to different optimisation problems and their levels of difficulty.
