Welcome to the homepage of the School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) at Singapore Management University!

Established in 2003, SCIS is a young, vibrant, and dynamic school that continually strives to uplift and inspire, with the vision to be a premier computing institution recognized globally for excellence in our research, education, and societal impact.

We have world-class faculty who conduct cutting edge research in the field of computer science and information systems. Our research publications are ranked consistently among the top 100 computing schools globally by CSRankings and more than 25% of our faculty are in the World’s Top 2% Scientists list compiled by Stanford University. Our dual research strategy aims to build deep expertise in the core areas of artificial intelligence, human-machine collaboration, cybersecurity, software engineering, and information systems, as well as to create practical impact in the integrative areas of health, education, urban, and homeland security, which are well aligned with Singapore's Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2030 plan.

Our faculty take pride in education and our students, as we see them learning and maturing in our seminar-style teaching and transformative environment, and going on to establish fulfilling careers and contribute back to society. We offer a suite of exciting undergraduate degree programs:

  • Our BSc (Information Systems) degree enables students to identify emerging technologies and market trends, exploit opportunities to digitally transform an organisation, and develop applications that harmonise with the overall IT infrastructure.
  • Our BSc (Computer Science) degree emphasises strong technical skills in translating scientific principles to usable computing technologies and solutions, as well as the management skills needed to navigate complex software development and system deployment concerns.
  • Offered in partnership with the SMU Yong Pung How School of Law, our BSc (Computing & Law) degree equips students with the skillsets to protect technology innovation, comply with pertinent legal and regulatory requirements, as well as manage the technology and business risks posed by innovation.
  • Our BSc (Software Engineering) SkillsFuture Work-Study Degree is co-developed and co-taught with industry partners. This programme incorporates a 52-week apprenticeship in a software development team, and is designed to train students for professional careers in software engineering.

For graduates who wish to pursue further studies, we offer highly regarded postgraduate programs, including PhD in Computer Science, PhD in Information Systems, and Doctor of Engineering. We also offer professional degree programs, including Doctor of Business Administration (Technology) and our flagship Master of IT in Business (MITB) program, which is consistently ranked among the top in Asia by QS Business Master's Rankings.
