Reminder: Vast majority of serfs toiling away as Mechanical Turks for megabucks Amazon earn less than minimum wage

SMU Assistant Professor of Information Systems Kotaro Hara co-authored a research paper titled “A Data-Driven Analysis of Workers’ Earnings on Amazon Mechanical Turk,” together with a host of other academics from various universities. Their research paper – scheduled to be presented next year at the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems – focused on low wage workers employed through the Amazon Mechanical Turk and the disparity in their wages and long working hours.
