The Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2020 plan was launched last year, with the Government planning to invest $19 billion over five years. In September this year, the progress was reviewed and announcements made regarding the future in the four technology domains of the Plan – Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering, Health & Biomedical Sciences, Services & Digital Economy and Urban Solutions & Sustainability. In May 2017, the National Research Foundation set up a Singapore Data Science Consortium, in collaboration with SMU, the National University Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).
