New scheme launched for undergrads to intern at China's Internet giants

SMU final-year student Jackson Kwa pointed out that an internship opportunity in China would allow him to glean valuable insight from leading Chinese tech companies, such as how they scale their firms successfully and how they understand their users. Mr Kwa noted that this opportunity is timely as he is in the midst of planning how he could take his edu-tech start-up project forward. “This award will mean a lot, especially to a student entrepreneur,” said Mr Kwa.

The Singapore Valley Awards (SVA) was launched to provide a rare chance for internships with leading innovation companies in China for three months. The internships will give winners first-hand access to China’s start-up ecosystem and the opportunity to learn from the founders of these companies. The SVA is seeded by S$3.35 million in funding from five entrepreneurs and supported by local private equity firm Tembusu Partners.
