Commenting on the viability of the dockless bike-sharing business in Singapore given that the rental rates are “ridiculously low”, SMU Associate Professor of Information Systems Pradeep Varakantham, who studied bike-sharing systems for more than four years, thinks that operators can make money only in the long run. He added that operators in Singapore will have to take a “divide and conquer” approach in order to survive.
