SMU Associate Professor of Information Systems Pradeep Varakantham, who specialises in urban management and sustainability, was interviewed about bicycle sharing service oBike ceasing operations in Singapore because of difficulties in meeting the new requirements put in place by the Land Transport Authority to tackle indiscriminate parking. He said that oBike's decision was due to several challenges and that the industry would have to make significant changes, although such services would continue to be available.
