AI software product company Element AI separately forged strategic partnerships with SMU, GIC and SGInnovate. Element AI and SMU School of Law will be embarking on a research collaboration in relevant areas of governance of AI. SMU will be responsible for carrying out the Singaporean and Asean aspects of research while Element AI will focus on the North American aspects as well as leverage its global research network. The parties will share information, tools and approaches in order to deliver issues and recommendation papers. SMU Vice Provost of Research and Professor of Information Systems Steven Miller underscored that regulatory issues are becoming important to underpin the rapid developments in technology. Although the partnership is limited to the SMU School of Law, he believes the research outcomes will have an impact on every faculty on campus.
