The coming of the age of AI in the law

SMU student Soh Kian Peng opined that the law profession needs to undergo a transformation as technology continues to influence and shape the legal industry. He surmised that the use of artificial intelligence (AI) may inherently affect the role of lawyers and judges in many ways but still has its limitations. He noted that given that technology is here to stay, this is the time “to strive to understand what it means to be a lawyer and what law is” and decide how AI may aid the profession “in its eternal quest to ensure that justice is done.”
