While explaining how Singapore is using artificial intelligence (AI) to make the nation smarter at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), Laurence Liew, Director of AI innovation at AI Singapore, shared that AI Singapore had signed up an SMU professor to help develop algorithms that can predict up to a week in advance when an elevator will malfunction, when a public housing group in Singapore wanted to use AI to predict when its elevators would require maintenance. The WAIC Singapore stage ended the day with a panel discussion moderated by SMU Associate Professor of Information Systems Zhu Feida.
