China's 'retreat' negatively impacts bitcoin currency, Academics: 'De-China-tising' is advantageous to long term development

On China's move to eliminate bitcoin activities from the country, SMU Associate Professor of Computer Science Zhu Feida opined that such an effort also contributes to the decentralisation of the cryptocurrency, which is advantageous to its long-term growth. He explained that as the bitcoin currency is currently highly centralised in China, having a more dispersed blockchain ecological model focusing on the consensus of the entire community would be better. He concluded that moving bitcoin currency mining to lower cost regions with a more relaxed regulatory system will bring about a more optimistic future for the cryptocurrency.
