What Machines Can’t Do (Yet) in Real Work Settings

In a commentary, Babson College President’s Distinguished Professor of Information Technology and Management Thomas H. Davenport and SMU Professor Emeritus of Information Systems Steven Miller – who studied 30 case studies for their new book Working With AI: Real Stories of Human-Machine Collaboration – used the examples to illustrate a list of AI-enabled activities that still require human assistance. They discussed the current limitations of AI in the workplace, and gave suggestions on what can be done about the AI limitations and human strengths.
