Commenting on China’s response to the AI slowdown, SMU Associate Professor of Computer Science Zhu Feida said that while there is a consensus within the US to maintain its lead over China in AI, there are disagreements on how to achieve this lead and on the assessment of AI risks. He added that China does not disregard model security risks but opposes external perceptions of China's AI development as a threat.
