In recent years, more and more mobile sensing and IoT systems have been developed to make our world smarter and more connected.
In this talk, the speaker will introduce his research work and experience in the area of mobile crowdsensing, IoT systems as well as the translation from technology to product in the past ten years. In particular, he will present the design of IODetector, which is used to instantly detect whether you are indoors or outdoors. IODetector makes use of multiple sensing resources on mobile phones including the light sensor, cellular module, and magnetometer. As a pioneer work on indoor/outdoor detection, IODetector has been used in various applications. The speaker will also share the experience of integrating IODetector to the on-demand food delivery industry of Alibaba (aka ele.me). The nationwide deployment of IODetector demonstrates its effectiveness in improving the delivery efficiency and reducing the operation cost of nearly 100 million CNY for each year.
