About the Talk

Software maintenance is a critical phase in the software development lifecycle. Duplicate bug reports, which refer to multiple reports of the same software issue, are a prevalent challenge. Addressing duplicate bug reports effectively can significantly improve the efficiency of software maintenance processes. The proposal encompasses three key research studies: In the first completed work, we focus on benchmarking existing techniques for duplicate bug report detection; In the second completed work, we introduce a novel approach for duplicate bug report detection; The third work explores the utilization of duplicate bug report information to enhance bug localization. By benchmarking existing methods, introducing innovative detection techniques, and harnessing duplicate bug report data for bug localization, our research endeavors to enhance the overall software maintenance process. Ultimately, the proposed research aims to reduce the burden on software developers and increase the quality of software products.

This is a Pre-Conference talk for the ACM Joint European Software Engineering Conference and Symposium on the Foundations of Software Engineering (ESEC/FSE 2023).
