About the Talk Today’s LLM is designed as a machine tool to facilitate the efficiency, productivity, & creativity of human works. However, social intelligence, which is a significant feature of human intelligence, has been largely neglected in current research. Future AGI must have not only machine intelligence but also social intelligence. In this talk, the speaker will talk about how to embrace social intelligence with LLMs, for emotion understanding, emotional support, modeling cognition and theory of mind, and applications for mental health. About the Speaker Dr. Minlie Huang is a professor at Tsinghua University and deputy director of its Foundation Model Center. A National Distinguished Young Scholar, he has received prestigious awards such as the Wuwenjun Technical Advancement Award and Qianweichang Technical Innovation Award. His research focuses on large-scale language models, AI safety, social intelligence, and language generation. Author of Modern Natural Language Generation, he has published over 200 papers (ICML, NeurIPS, ACL, etc.) with 23,000+ citations and recognition as an Elsevier Highly Cited Scholar (since 2022) and AI 2000 Influential AI Scholar (since 2020). Dr. Huang has developed key pretrained models like CDial-GPT, EVA, and CPM, and has served as associate editor for TNNLS, TACL, and CL, as well as senior area chair for ACL/EMNLP/IJCAI/AAAI.
