About the Talk

The speaker will introduce City University of Hong Kong’s ongoing efforts to combat scams, including building a scam intelligence platform, understanding the psychological mechanisms of scams, and enhancing the promotion of scam prevention messages with the help of large language models and other AI technologies.

 

About the Speaker

Xiaofan Liu is a computational social scientist in the Department of Media and Communication at the City University of Hong Kong. He earned both his B.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Supported by major institutions like the NSFC, UGC, ITF, and world renown philanthropies and industrial partners, his research explores multiple aspects of human behaviors in the cryptocurrency market, on the Internet, and in the dark web. With over 70 publications, his work has garnered media exposure, top paper awards, and knowledge transfer awards. He also serves as an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Computational Social Systems and Frontiers in Blockchain.
