About the Talk
The logistics industry is constantly evolving and new service models and technologies are rapidly emerging. This presentation will explore some of the innovative logistics service models developed in recent years, such as crowdsourced logistics and distribution models involving drones, parcel lockers, and public transportation, and how these models are changing the way goods are transported and the potential benefits they offer to logistics service providers, end users and society.
While these innovative logistics service models have the potential to dramatically improve logistics efficiency and effectiveness, they also pose significant optimization challenges. This presentation will explore some of the optimization issues that arise when implementing these models, such as route optimization, among others.
With the rise of smart cities and the Internet of Things, logistics service providers have new opportunities to improve their services through real-time data analysis and decision making. The talk will also discuss some potential logistics models and related optimization problems that can facilitate the development of logistics in smart cities and the challenges of realizing the full potential of these models.
