About the Talk
This talk introduces the evolution of information systems into the IoT concept, standardization, and commercialization. In this talk, industrial standard related patent will be introduced as an example of how things can be connected to assist our daily life. Based on industry case studies, the speaker will bring the audience to a broad picture of how IoT is gradually deployed into various aspects of life within the past 10 years. In addition, how emerging technologies are affecting the progress of this evolution. Last but not least, the speaker will also give some potential research areas that have immediate demanding by current industry.
About the Speaker
Dr. Sophia Zhou obtained her PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Computer Engineering) from National University of Singapore. She worked in Panasonic R&D center on P2P distributed streaming, IMS platform, 3GPP SA2 M2M Standardization (Rel.9&10). She consulted in Starhub’s IoT platform setup and IoT ecosystem buildup. She worked as a solution architect in M1 for Smart Nation initiatives with community and nation-wide IoT solutions. She is currently a Director of Analytics in a financial system service firm, Curveseries Pte. Ltd.
