Transforming Internal Auditing Through Digital & Analytics

Data and analytics is transforming the way we work in every industry. In DBS Group Audit, we have embarked on the digital transformation journey since 2014. In the past few years, we tried to redefine our audit work by changing our mindset and leveraging digital and analytical tools. In this session, we would like to share with you how we have gone through this transformation, and give you a few examples on how data analytics plays an important role in our new way to do audit.

About the Speaker

Sam Wong is the Regional Head of Data Analytics, DBS Group Audit and is responsible for driving Data Analytics and Digital innovations for Group Audit. During his tenure in DBS, Sam charted the Audit Analytics Transformation journey and enabled a number of “Industry-First” innovations to help Group Audit to be more effective and efficient in providing Audit assurance to DBS. He is also a key contributor to the DBS Analytic community who helps co-create governance standards and re-usable assets within DBS. Prior to his role in DBS, Sam spent 13+ years in Accenture driving Analytics & Digital Transformation, Merger & Acquisitions & other large scale transformation programs for the Financial Services clients across Southeast Asia, Greater China, Australia and India. Sam holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Upper Honours) from NUS.

About the Speaker

Wu Huayu is a Data Science team lead at DBS Group Audit. His team apply machine learning and other advanced analytics techniques to help identify risks in various functional areas in the bank. Huayu received both Bachelor and PhD degrees in Computer Science from NUS School of Computing. He has 15 years of R&D experience in data management and data science. Prior to join the bank, he was a researcher and manager at Institute for Infocomm Research, A*STAR.
