In a commentary, Director of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at SMU, Professor Arcot Desai Narasimhalu, described the various stages of an innovation evolution path and how the transition from one stage to the next creates disruption. He said that it is important for an organisation to identify and keep track of the different paths, and assess their impact on it so that strategies can be crafted to ensure its survival and growth. He felt that for a disruption to be successfully executed, the markets and technology have to be ready. Therefore, it is much wiser to develop a technology for a market that is ready than to develop a technology that is non-existent for a market.
