SMU Assistant Prof of Information Systems Gao Debin spoke about the SMU-Symantec Memorandum of Understanding to jointly train and equip IT security professionals with the latest knowledge and skill sets in information security, expanding Singapore’s capabilities and talent in information protection. He commented that the collaboration is in line with SMU’s practice of giving our students exposure in the corporate sector and preparing them for the working world. He also said that the requirement for security is a growing phenomenon – whether in the government, business or education sectors. By collaborating with a global company like Symantec, SMU students will be able to gain first-hand knowledge about the current and emerging issues in the world of information security and data protection.
