Jianhui Huang, a PhD in Information Systems student attends the Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems

Jianhui Huang
Student of the PhD in Information Systems

I attended a two-day Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS) in Jeju Island, Korea. I participated in the Doctoral Consortium on the second day of this event where I presented my research on ‘Pricing Strategies for Cloud Computing Services’.

My research included an analytical modelling study of dual pricing strategy for cloud services, an experimental study for alternative pricing methods for cloud services, and a market survey for the pricing practices in current cloud computing services market. Professor Arun Rai from Georgia State University and Kalle Lyytinen from Case Western Reserve University, the two faculty advisors for the Economics of Information Systems sub-group, shared their invaluable comments and suggestions. Other PhD students also shared their comments and ideas in this research area.

I enjoyed my experience at this conference because it allowed me to have intense face-to-face discussions on my dissertation research. The experience provided me with potential directions to explore so as to be able to improve upon my research work.
