In an interview, SMU Professor of Information Systems and Director of the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Arcot Desai Narasimhalu noted that most SMEs, however successful, will hit a growth ceiling because the founder CEO does not have the time to think about creating innovations to grow the company. He suggested that SMEs form one or more Virtual Enterprises (VEs) and regulate them via an umbrella organisation. Prof Desai also recommended a few agencies that could facilitate the creation of VEs.
