A 'closed' social media perceived to be less critical

SMU Living Analytics Research Centre Director Professor Lim Ee Peng noted that there were 275 social media posts a day during the election season. “In our study, we were surprised that the number of political blog posts did not increase significantly after the GE2015 result announcement.  This is in contrast with many political blog posts generated on the last day of GE2015 campaigning. Nevertheless, we found a larger proportion of emotional posts after the GE2015 result announcement.  Emotional posts are those that contain at least some ranting expressions and expletives,” Professor Lim said.
