This is how your phone’s e-wallet can be hacked

Winston Ho is the president of SMU's Whitehat Society, a group of ethical hackers. He is paranoid about downloading e-wallet apps or any app linked to credit card or bank accounts, and prefers to stick to cash transactions mostly. According to Mr Ho and his fellow committee member Wan Ding Yao, untrusted apps and phishing SMSs are giving hackers easier access to phones as e-payments grow in popularity. They are not convinced that passwords, two-step verification and fingerprint recognition on some e-wallet apps are sufficient to stop cybercriminals.
