Tech plans to transform S’pore wholesale trade

SMU’s Professional Conversion Programme for international trade executives, has successfully placed 65 mid-career professionals since its rollout. The programme, which was launched last year in partnership with the International Chamber of Commerce Academy, equips mid-career professionals with the right skills for a career switch through a “Place and Train” model. SMU aims to place 100 mid-career professionals each year.

One successful participant of last year’s programme is Chew Kok Soon, a 33-year-old former finance professional. After completing the programme, he joined Luxasia last November as its senior supply chain analyst, where he is involved in solving operational issues such as budgeting.

Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry) S. Iswaran, IE Singapore Chief Executive Lee Ark Boon as well SMU International Trading Institute@SMU Academic Director Annie Koh and Deputy Director Christopher Chow graced the commencement ceremony, held yesterday for the fresh cohort of 44 mid-career job-seekers.
