Old trades, new trends

SMU School of Information Systems’ alumnus Jeffrey Tan gave up a cushy job in business IT a few years ago and founded Dish the Fish – a new age fishmongering business. Together with his wife Angeline Ong, a former accountant, he runs two outlets at Beo Crescent Market and West Coast Plaza. The couple have also invested in technology for their operations. For example, the company uses a digital system to track both retail and online sales, customers' information and preferences, and also labelling of produce. "It all helps make operations run more efficiently," said Mr Tan.
