At 34, Alvin Poh is a multi-millionaire. But he doesn’t think he’s rich.

Last month, SMU School of Information Systems alumnus Alvin Poh, left the company he and his business partner built up from the ground up. Despite being asked to stay, the now ex-CEO of Vodien Internet Solutions who knew that the company was in good hands and his staff were well taken care of, decided it was time for him to take a break and pursue other interests.

Exiting from the company fifteen million dollars richer, Mr Poh remains grateful to SMU for providing him with the opportunity to do his masters at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Having been a scholarship recipient himself, he knows first-hand the importance of a quality education and has since set up an endowment fund with SMU. He wants to pay it forward and has donated $250,000 towards providing financial assistance to deserving students.
