Singapore, 12 November, 2019 – TIBCO Software Inc., a global leader in integration, API management, and analytics, announced its plans to collaborate with the Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Information Systems to deepen students’ data analytics knowledge and prepare them with the right digital skill sets for the digital economy. The parties aim to provide students with hands-on opportunities to use selected TIBCO tools to hone their analytics skills.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organisations was signed to foster deeper collaboration to equip students with data analytics skills in a real-world setting. In addition, both parties will conduct workshops, masterclasses, and seminars, as well as other practice-based training in technological skills, empowering students and professionals to further their education.
“Organisations around the globe are transforming their business models to be digitalised in order to remain competitive and align with critical programs, such as Singapore’s leading Smart Nation initiatives. On this transformational journey, technology is only one essential ingredient... the other is the talent and the know-how needed to support it,” said Erich Gerber, senior vice president, APJ and EMEA, TIBCO. “We see TIBCO’s collaboration with SMU as crucial in addressing this digital skills gap. Augmenting students’ capabilities and skill sets with a combination of leading intelligent connected solutions will be a powerful contribution to the developing digital ecosystem of the nation.”
TIBCO and SMU see this collaboration as an opportunity to train up to 500 students on the Digital Business Solutioning track under the Bachelor of Science (Information Systems) degree programme. With hands-on opportunities, students will deepen their knowledge of advanced data analytics using selected TIBCO capabilities, including data analytics, real-time analytics, data science, data virtualization, and API management. The end-to-end TIBCO solutions will allow students to apply real-world solutions during their studies.
“With the rapid growth of the digital economy and the ongoing efforts to transform Singapore through technology, there is strong demand in the public and private sectors for graduates with sound knowledge and training in analytics. Collaborations with industry and technology providers, such as TIBCO, and integrating academic learning with real-world practice are part of our overall efforts to nurture future-ready graduates,” said Professor Pang Hwee Hwa, Dean, School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University. “We believe this programme will further strengthen our high-quality education for our students and provide them with the crucial digital skills needed in today’s business environment.”
TIBCO is also developing relationships with other polytechnic institutes and universities across Asia, equipping students with relevant skill sets to cater to the growing demand for data analysts in the region.
