Son of former AG Walter Woon, national sprinter among new lawyers called to the Bar

Supreme Court’s transformation and innovation office is partnering with SMU to study the possibility of setting up a virtual legal clinic to provide legal help to anyone with internet access. SMU alumnus and national athlete Tan Zong Yang recounted his hectic schedule in December 2019, as he placed 6th in the 400m race at the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, passed his examinations and will be called to the Bar. Despite the economic downturn caused by the pandemic, he managed to secure a job at a commercial litigation firm and hopes to engage in pro-bono work in the future as a form of giving back to society.
