Commenting on businesses being hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic, SMU Assistant Professor of Finance (Education) Aurobindo Ghosh said the way the pandemic has hit certain industries much harder than others makes the crisis unique. He agreed that business sentiments is on the upswing, but some firms might not be saved. Some firms are adopting technology to weather the storm while others see a space for new online businesses. Two SMU alumni for instance started Edens Chips, which offers mushroom chips in different flavours, last August. They sold 10,000 packets of chips online in four months.
