How using AI in insurance could help or harm consumers

Commenting on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in insurance, SMU Assistant Professor of Finance (Education) and Director of the Citi Foundation-SMU Financial Literacy Programme for Young Adults Aurobindo Ghosh said cost savings from automating underwriting could be passed on to retail customers. He however noted there are issues with AI, and explained how AI has a potential to breach data protection rules and poses a "garbage in, garbage out" problem when analysing data.
