China strongly condemns US cyber-attack, Analysis: Before the CCP's 20th National Congress, a stronger hidden signal was released

SMU Associate Professor of Computer Science Zhu Feida noted that in previous cybersecurity confrontations between the two superpowers, China was most often accused of being the initiator of cyberattacks. In the past two years, China has taken a more aggressive stance in disclosing the hacking operations from US, replacing passive clarification with active attacks. Assoc Prof Zhu pointed out that to a certain extent, this is related to the improvement in China's network security technology and their ability to obtain more evidence. He believes that for China to issue such a warning at this point in time, it could be related to the upcoming 20th National Congress.
