
The 18th edition of the Asia Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) conference and exhibition held in India, brought together representatives from over 1,100 universities across more than 70 countries. SMU Professor of Information Systems (Education) and Vice Provost (Education) Venky Shankararaman, who also serves as APAIE President, highlighted the conference's Access Programme, which provided funding for delegates from underrepresented countries. Prof Shankararaman also noted the significant growth of the conference, which welcomed over 2,500 participants this year, and the strong interest in collaborating with Indian universities. He emphasised the conference's theme, "Global Citizenship in Education", which focuses on translating empathy into action through compassion and community service.
