A research team, including SMU Associate Professor of Computer Science Gao Wei, has developed REFLEX, a novel method for detecting fake news. REFLEX works by separating factual content from expression style and analysing differences between original and fine-tuned large language models to identify more accurate reasoning directions. Assoc Prof Gao Wei highlighted the innovation in combining accuracy with interpretable reasoning, making REFLEX suitable for real-time content moderation and fact-checking.
