Despite SMU alumnus Goh Wei Han being wheelchair-bound and diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, he has excelled academically and in sports, balancing his computer science studies with training as a member of Singapore’s para table tennis team. He used to play table tennis as a child when he could still run and has never given up the sport even after having to use a wheelchair after his A-levels. Since graduating from SMU with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence), he is pursuing a Master of IT in Business (MITB) while working as a part-time AI and programming instructor. Wei Han exemplifies resilience and excellent time management, determined to make the most of his abilities despite physical challenges. On 29 July, the university launched five days of graduation celebration with the Opening Ceremony of SMU Commencement 2025. The 3,883-strong Class of 2025 is the largest since the university’s founding. It is also the first cohort to receive the Co-Curricular Transcript, recognising students’ extracurricular achievements and transferable skills.
