About the Talk Computational thinking, generally rooted in theoretical computer science can offer valuable insights when applied to IT solution architecture. While often regarded as distinct disciplines, both computational thinking and solution architecture involve systematic problem analysis, constraint identification, and informed decision-making aimed at optimizing outcomes.
Through real world scenarios that require architectural trade offs such as balancing performance, scalability, and maintainability, the talk discusses how an algorithmic mindset can support more principled architectural decisions. By bridging these two domains, it encourages a more integrated view of computing education, where foundational problem-solving skills are used to make informed decisions at higher levels of system design and implementation. About the Speaker
KOH Kwan Chin is a Principal Instructor at the School of Computing and Information Systems, Singapore Management University. He is an experienced teaching professional with over 12 years in the higher education sector, complemented by 11 years in the IT industry, where he held various roles in large-scale system implementations. He holds a Master of Science in Information Systems from Nanyang Technological University and has taught courses in software development, data structures, computational thinking, and enterprise solutions.
He is a lecturer-track faculty candidate.
