About the Talk
In this talk will address the importance of Software Architecture for Software development and discuss the impact that AI is having on the practices related to software architecting. I will give a brief overview of the development of Software Architecture since the 1990’s including: the crystallization and refinement of the notion of software architecture and the evolution of modelling of software architecture. After this general introduction, I will discuss some recent research in the two specific subarea’s:
- The use of AI in Software Architecting: A key aspect of software architecting is the sharing of knowledge across all developers. Nowadays, AI is becoming a source of knowledge and thereby enhancing the cognition and reasoning about software architecture. What are the opportunities and challenges that AI brings to Software Architecting?
- Software Architecture for Digital Twins for the Human Body. Our group in Eindhoven has been working for several years on Digital Twins for machines. In this talk I will present an emerging theme: DT4HumanBody: There are large amounts of models of various specific parts and processes of the human body. When added with the emerging abundance of data about the human body this is opening doors for impactful improvements in the field of medicine and health. However, in the current ecosystem, wit is very hard to integrate independently developed models. I will outline a Software Architecture for DT4HumamBody that aims to address this.
