About the Talk

In 1967, Dr Goh Keng Swee lamented that "the preoccupation in Singapore with examination results is unnatural and unhealthy", while articulating his vision for the education system to produce citizens who have "a sense of social responsibility, who are able to overcome their innate instincts of greed, personal vanity, and other human weaknesses in the interest of the common good".

This talk provides a peek into how Tech for Good projects could nurture students' sense of social responsibility, their capacity to care, their concern for the common good. We explore technology prototypes designed for social good. We immerse ourselves into the inner workings of technology enablers. We highlight the challenges involved in developing systems for social good, all the while fueled by a desire to spark the symphony of innovation and shine the light of technology for humanity.
