Google flags off six AI projects to improve lives of rural Indians

Google has announced that it will apply artificial intelligence (AI) in six research projects to improve the lives of millions of India. The projects include a collaboration with IIIT-Delhi’s professor Tavpritesh Sethi, a team from SMU led by SMU Associate Professor of Information Systems Pradeep Varakantham, and non-profit organisation Swasti to leverage AI for identifying influencers among communities which are at high risk of getting affected to HIV/AIDS; a collaboration with SMU Assistant Professor of Information Systems Arunesh Sinha and nonprofit organisation Khushibaby to apply AI to ensure consistency in the flow of healthcare-related information; and a collaboration with SMU Associate Professor of Information Systems Pradeep Varakantham and his team and Wildlife Conservation Trust to leverage AI to predict and prevent human-wildlife conflict in Maharashtra.
