Greetings to our SCIS Dean's List Awardees!
One of the joys of being a professor, and especially the School Dean, is in celebrating the successes of our students. Certainly, qualifying for the Dean's List is a success worth celebrating!
Of course, we want you to continue to excel in your studies. At the same time, I urge you to explore opportunities to develop yourself beyond the standard curriculum.
You might consider UResearch, the undergraduate research program that we put together for you to delve deeply into exciting topics like Cybersecurity and AI. The experience will give you an edge in pursuing a career in deep tech, which offers many job opportunities in Singapore and abroad.
Alternatively, you could still expand your horizon by joining a special interest group, for example on Fintech or entrepreneurship.
Yet another avenue is to serve the community, including helping your fellow students. An example is the Coders Assembly that Ellipsis organizes where mentors help mentees to master programming. You could volunteer for that, or start something else.
There are many opportunities for self-development. Do make the most of them.
Congratulations! Be of good cheer and keep up the good effort!
Warmest regards
Pang Hwee Hwa
Dean of SMU School of Computing and Information Systems
